ON ACCUMULATING AND HAVING IT ALL Perfectivity, Prefixes and Bare Arguments

چکیده
The main hypothesis to be investigated is that the distinction between grammatical aspect and the semantic classification of verbal predicates into eventuality types (events, processes and states) is encoded by distinct parts of verbal morphology in Slavic languages. The key empirical evidence is drawn from the influence of verbal morphology on the interpretation of certain bare plural and mass arguments.

متن کاملExploiting interaction contexts in P2P ontology mapping
Agents in peer-to-peer networks may gather into virtual communities, interacting continuously with agents that represent disparate actors, each of them with different interests, needs and views, and having dissimilar ontologies. Mapping all the combination of ontologies in advance is not feasible simply because all the possible combinations cannot be foreseen. Mapping complete ontologies at run...
متن کاملSentenced without trial : re iling and re amping the Resource Dispersion Hypothesis
The resource dispersion hypothesis (RDH) offers a predictive model for how, in heterogeneous environments, some animals may form groups even without any direct benefits from doing so. Revilla (2003) levels a number of criticisms at the RDH, all of which we feel can be easily clarified or resolved (we address them in the order they appear in his critique). We argue that the RDH, despite its long...
متن کاملMethods for stratification of person-time and events – a prerequisite for Poisson regression and SIR estimation
INTRODUCTION Many epidemiological methods for analysing follow-up studies require the calculation of rates based on accumulating person-time and events, stratified by various factors. Managing this stratification and accumulation is often the most difficult aspect of this type of analysis. TUTORIAL We provide a tutorial on accumulating person-time and events, stratified by various factors i.e...
